PRP - Platelet Rich Plasma Injections

The Science

Our blood consists of a liquid component known as plasma. It also consists of three main solid components which include the red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), and platelets. Platelets play an important role in forming blood clots. They also consist of special proteins, known as growth factors, which help with our body’s healing process. Platelet-rich plasma or PRP is a high concentration of platelets and plasma.  A normal blood specimen contains only 6% platelets, while platelet-rich plasma contains 94% of platelets and 5 to 10 times the concentration of growth factors found in normal blood, thus greater healing properties.

The Plain Speak

PRP Skin Rejuvenation is an innovative skin treatment that has been scientifically proven to refresh, tone and tighten the skin by repairing the elasticity, colour and quality of the skin.

PRP uses your body’s own rejuvenating properties to initiate a local stem cell response, which helps build new collagen, elastin and blood vessels. This process helps to repair and regenerate damaged skin for a healthier and more refreshed appearance with minimal downtime.

Benefits

PRP Skin Rejuvenation helps to restore what your body has lost and assists with:

 - Improving the overall health, tone & elasticity of your skin

 - Reducing shallow wrinkles and fine lines

 - Reducing dark circles under your eyes

 - Minimising the appearance of scars

 - Minimising the visible signs of aged & sun damaged skin

 - Promoting even skin tone and texture

 - Accelerating hair regrowth in desired areas

How it works

Using natural substances to rejuvenate damaged skin.

Our highly trained registered nurses and doctors begin the PRP treatment by taking the client’s blood and placing it in a specialised centrifuge device. From here, we extract the most nutrient rich properties (the platelets and plasma), then use superficial injections to place these natural substances back into the skin or area of concern. These platelets release important growth factors, which instruct other cells on what work needs to be done (e.g. form new collagen) and help to treat a wide range of concerns.

Optimising your results

Let’s work together to see the changes you deserve.

Depending on the size of the area, along with the desired results, we recommend three to six treatments at four to six weekly intervals.

As with normal medical guidelines, a healthy diet, minimal caffeine and alcohol and adequate sleep will allow your body the best chance for a good outcome. We also recommend following our pre and post treatment guidelines.

For clients treating hair loss, please be aware that the PRP application is not a “quick fix” and is meant to be used as part of a comprehensive hair rejuvenation program supervised by your GP, specialist or dedicated cosmetic / hair clinic.  Individual patients will progress at different rates depending on their age, general health, baseline condition of your skin and hair and the period since the hair loss first occurred.
